What is Padres Pay?
Padres Pay is a completely contactless method to pay using your mobile phone, all within the MLB Ballpark App! Simply open the MLB Ballpark App, load your bank or credit card details and go. It is fast, safe and easy to use.

What are the benefits of using Padres Pay?
Safe. Secure. Simple. A truly contactless method of payment, Padres Pay is safer for fans and staff within Petco Park. Padres Pay minimizes risk of Covid-19 as you can make payments either through glass, or at a further distance away than other payment methods. The technology requires biometric authentication, which means your payments are always secure. Lastly, it’s simple to set up and use, which means you get your items quickly and back to the action faster.

Do I need to download another app?
No, Padres Pay is seamlessly integrated into your MLB Ballpark App.

Where can I use Padres Pay?
Padres Pay is the preferred method of payment at Petco Park and accepted at all Points of Sale within the park, both concessions, retail and mobile ordering.

Do I have to have an iPhone or Android to use Padres Pay?
Anyone who has the MLB Ballpark App will have access to Padres Pay. Simply make sure your app is completely up to date. The MLB Ballpark App is available on iOS, Android and Samsung devices via the App Store or Google Play.

Is Padres Pay safe and secure?
Yes. Mobile pay is one of the safest ways to make a payment. Accessing your Padres Pay account from a mobile device requires either Biometric ID or a passcode. Padres Pay displays a unique QR code which is safe, universally used and can be read from a much greater distance than any other payment methods as well as through protective plexiglass.

Padres Pay works with…
Padres Pay works with the payment method that's saved to your Padres Pay wallet. These cards are listed as payment methods within the app and customers can choose which card or cards get used at checkout.

Where/how is my payment information stored?
Padres Pay stores only verified payment methods and credit cards must include CVV codes. Information is always encrypted over secure networks.

Can I still use cash or my credit card?
While Padres Pay is the preferred method of payment at Petco Park, credit cards will still be accepted. Cash will no longer be accepted.

Do I have to link/add a credit/debit card to my account?
Yes, in order to use Padres Pay you must load a form of payment (Mastercard, Visa, American Express) to your Padres Pay account.

How do I purchase items using Padres Pay?
Once you’ve set up your account and added your payment method, simply open the MLB Ballpark App and click on the ‘pay’ icon. A QR code will appear and you hold your device up to the scanner. The total will be automatically charged to the card that you have linked to your Padres Pay.

What if my card gets declined?
If a credit or debit card that is linked to a Padres Pay account is declined, the Padres Pay transaction will not process. The Padres Pay QR code will scan, but the transaction will display an error to alert you to the fact that the payment was declined. You will need to pay using a different method.

How do I use my giveaway token?
Once your giveaway token is activated and visible in my offers you will click pay, as if you are making a regular payment. Select the pay button on your app. You will be presented with the option to select a token to use.

How do I spend complimentary value?
Once your complimentary value is added to your account and visible in my offers, that amount will automatically be deducted from your order total. If the value of your order is greater than your complimentary value, the system will charge the remaining balance to the payment method attached to your account.

How do I see my giveaway tokens or complimentary value?
From the home screen of Padres Pay, click the “My Offers” button.

How do I use my member benefits?
Once you are logged into the MLB Ballpark app, click on the Padres tab, then navigate to “Pay with Padres Pay” and proceed to pay as usual. To receive your Padres Member discount, scan your virtual Member loyalty card first, then use Padres Pay to complete your transaction.

San Diego Padres and Tappit Partner to Take Petco Park Cashless

White-label mobile payment integrated into MLB Ballpark app

SAN DIEGO, CA – March 9, 2021 – Tappit, the global payment and data ecosystem for sports, events, stadiums and venues, today announced a multi-year partnership with the San Diego Padres. The partnership, which marks Tappit’s first with an MLB team, will help ensure a safe return when Padres fans are allowed back into Petco Park for the 2021 baseball season with the implementation of safe and seamless contactless mobile payment technology throughout the stadium.

Tappit will provide its white label mobile payment technology for Padres fans through the team’s MLB Ballpark app, which will allow fans to make purchases using only their cell phone. Fans can link their preferred payment method to the app to enjoy a frictionless experience at concession and merchandise stands throughout the stadium to purchase food, drinks and merchandise quickly and efficiently. It also makes it easier than ever for the Padres to connect with fans, enabling the ability to send personalized vouchers and incentives directly to a fans’ mobile wallet. ‘Padres Pay’ links directly to fans’ Compadres Rewards loyalty account for a seamless user journey. Most importantly, the data and insights delivered by the platform will help the Padres maximize the fan experience and ensure operations are as efficient as possible.
