2019 Opening Day

After a taste of regular-season baseball with last week's Opening Series in Tokyo, the baseball world was treated to a full feast to celebrate Major League Baseball's Opening Day. All 30 teams were in action, and although 28 of them played their first official games in months, it felt like they never missed a beat. Slates were wiped clean as every team's springtime dream of being the last ballclub standing re-emerged from the shadows of winter. The excitement wasn't reserved for the players, either; fans were abuzz with the pomp of our pastime from morning until night, replete with meet-and-greet events with big leaguers and a 150th anniversary celebration fit for the Queen City. The on-field action was spectacular, as well -- Manny Machado and Bryce Harper debuted with their new teams, National League MVP Christian Yelich picked up right where he left off in 2018, and the Red Sox began their World Series title defense against the Mariners. Here are some of the best sights from one of the most significant celebrations of the baseball season.
